Well, I have had enough doses of that this summer to last for many years. In fact, we are still in the middle of it all.
It all started a couple weeks ago with the break-in of my vehicle. My heart still aches at the loss of my Bible, but I trust that it is being used in someone's life, somehow. Following the break-in, our air-conditioner at home went out. While we were out of town, we received a call from our daughter that our central vacuum was screaming wildly in the middle of the night, unable to be turned off. Only when the breaker was turned off did it rest quietly. Then came the news of water damage in the walls and flooring in the attic, the main floor and the basement.
I haven't even kept count of the days we've been living under this cloud. Yesterday, the news came that the hardwoods will need to come up and all the wood flooring will need to be refinished, so you won't be able to tell anything ever happened.
We don't know how the story will end in this building we call home. And I completely understand that it could be much, much worse. I kind of feel like we are having the constant drip, drip of inconveniences, which piled on top of each other, can get pretty heavy.
In the midst of it all, though, I am thankful. ( I admit, I've not been thankful every step of the way, but today I am.) I am thankful that even through the sweatbox we currently abide in, and through the mess that is on its way (starting today), there is a Constant. His name is Jesus.
I am reminded that I am completely His. Nothing can change that or take it away. His Word, in Bible form, can be taken away, but not from my heart, it can't. This house can be destroyed and all things in it, but Jesus will remain constant in my life and in my heart. His undying love for me will never change.
Where is the chaos in your life today? Has it been so overwhelming you think you can't go on? I understand! Don't give up. Whisper His name, the precious name of Jesus. He wants to walk through the storm with you. He hasn't abandoned you. The things we learn from Him during our storms are forever life-changing! Don't miss out on His presence with you in your storm!
