It was thrilling to see Spider-Man fly through the air, casting his web from building to building so he wouldn't fall. He had powers beyond human capabilities. He could do the impossible and he seemed to be invincible. He saved those who couldn't save themselves and he brought hope to the hopeless. He always showed up in the nick of time and knew just what to do and how to do it.
As the movie played, I couldn't help but think of the Amazing God-Man that I know. His hands formed the universe and everything within. He placed the stars in the sky and calls them by name. He holds back the oceans at just the right place. Death does not reign over Him. He saves those who can't save themselves and he brings hope, true hope, to the hopeless. His timing is always perfect and he knows how to do everything perfectly, even when we can't see the whole picture.
We love a great story of adventure. We love to watch characters who are bigger than life on the big screen. We love to see the fairy tale love story, where the two live happily ever after. It seems that humans thrive on these stories of make-believe. The incredible thing is, the story of Jesus sounds to some like a fairy tale or great adventure, but He's the real deal! He rides in on a white horse to save his true love (that would be you and me!); He turned water into wine; After three days (dead) in a tomb, He came back to life and appeared to many people for 40 days, then ascended into the sky, with the promise of coming again for us. There are more adventures still to take place!
Each day I walk with Him, He shows me more and more of His love for me. He does the impossible and He enables us to do the impossible. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." He wants us to do all things through Him. We never again need to face a day with hopelessness or defeat. He has overcome - and He is on our side! The Amazing God-Man has a plan for each one of us! Let's join forces with Him and see how much better life is!
